A few handy storage tips and tools to make your experience an easy and stress free one.
Following these storage tips will help ensure your time using B&B Mini Storage is a positive experience. If you should have any questions about items you are wanting to store, we will be happy to assist the best we can.
Items Not Allowed or Prohibited
Hazardous Materials
Flammable, Petroleum, Toxic, Corrosive, Medical Waste, or Explosive materials are NOT ALLOWED. These types of materials have warning labels on containers, mandated by Federal Acts.
Perishables & Liquids
Food and/or pet food will attract vermin, rot and smell making everyone’s experience very unpleasant.
Containers with liquids will freeze, break open and eventually thaw again, causing a major mess to clean up. These items may even leak through neighbors units.
Firearms, Munitions, Fireworks
These items are extremly dangerous to not only you, but other tenants and the public and may cause volatile situations.
Illegal
If its Illegal, prohibited or stolen, please take your items elsewhere, they are not welcome here.
Storage Tips for a Great Experience
Storage Prep
- Give thought on how best to arrange your space ahead of time, as a result you will have easy access to your items during and after storage.
- Place a sheet of plastic film on the floor, to keep your items clean from any dirt, grease, etc that may be linger on the floors.
- When using boxes, completely fill each box, partially filled boxes tend to collapse and fall over, causing more time organizing your unit later.
- Label boxes, for example, label on all sides so it is visible from any point in your unit.
- Fill plastic container boxes to capacity.
- Make a list of the items you store in unit, perhaps even recording the general location within the unit. This will save a lot of time in the future when looking for a specific item.
- Use plain newsprint paper to wrap fragile items. Newspaper ink tends to come off onto your possessions. You can find plain newsprint at most moving companies.
- Mattresses should be stored in heavy plastic and sealed with tape.
Storage Organization
- Place the heaviest boxes on the bottom and lighter boxes on top.
- Sofas and loveseats can be stored on their ends to save space
- Try to stack like-sized boxes to maximize space and aid to the stability of the stack. Think Tetris!
- The best dust covers are sheets or towels which often times conform to the shapes for better coverage.
- Utilize shelving units they certainly help take advantage of the height of your storage unit and allow you to store more fragile items safely.
- Fragile items should be cushioned by packing and placing towards the top of the unit.
- Any larger items with removable legs, REMOVE THEM, it’ll save a lot of space in your unit and allow for more items.
- Disassemble large items such as bed frames to maximize space.
- Place larger items you’re not likely to need anytime soon near the back of your unit and those you may need more frequently at the front of the unit.
